Prairie Wolves wins over LumberJacks

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team falls on the road to Nebraska Wesleyan University 104-74 Saturday afternoon in Lincoln, Neb. Jordan Brennan and Marvin McBroom both reach over 10 points for the first time this season.

NWU came out of the gate fast, scoring five points before Northland got its first shot off. Stephen Kesti starts the scoring for the Jacks with a layup. The Prairie Wolves continued to pad their lead going up eight after a two made free throws. Damian Cejka cut the lead to five with the team's first three-pointer. After trading baskets, Tyler Tuura made a free throw to make the score 14-18. That was the closest Northland would come to the lead and was down 30-56 at half time.

Just like the first half Kesti started the scoring with a layup then Brennan followed that up with a two-point jumper. Cejka made his third three of the game to bring the score within 17. Then a 10-to-2 run for the Prairie Wolves brought the lead back to 25. The Jacks were able to string together a few runs including seven unanswered with four points from Jahlani Thornton and a three from Brennan. Northland kept pace with Nebraska Wesleyan for the second half but trailing at half timed the Jacks could not climb back falling 104-74.

Brennan paced the scoring with 14 points an early season high for the senior. The Ashland native shot 6-for-9 from the field and 2-for-4 from three. Coming off the bench McBroom scored 11 points off two three points, two layups and a free throw. Kesti and Cejka were perfect from the field with four and three made shots respectively. Thornton recorded eight points in the game, all coming in the second half.

Defensively, Brennan and Kesti led the team with four rebounds. The Jacks had two blocks in the matchup coming from Kesti and Tuura. Northland recorded a season-high nine steals over the NWU with Brennan, McBroom, Drew Lindberg and Jaden Jones coming away with two.
