Beavers top LumberJacks in nonconference game

Jacks defeated by DII Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team was bested by Bemidji State University 105-62 in a nonconference matchup Tuesday night in Bemidji, Minn. All 12 LumberJacks that saw the court, recorded points in the contest.
 
The game started with a quick six points for the Beavers. Jordan Brennan scored the basket for the Jacks getting an assist from Langston Flowers. BSU continued to score rapidly as Northland fought for its points and entered half-time at 57-19 in favor of Bemidji State.
 
Drew Lindberg scored the first points of the second half with Northland's first three-pointer of the game. Lindberg made the next bucket for NC as well with a jumper assisted by Flowers. As the clock winded down Ben Smith landed himself at the free throw line and knocked down a pair of free throws to become the 12th LumberJack to score in the game. The large half-time deficit was too much for Northland to overcome as they fell 62-105.
 
Senior Lindberg led the scoring for the Jacks for the second game this season with 10 points. He shot 3-for-6 from the field, 2-for-3 from three, and made both shots from the line and totaled a rebound and an assist. Brennan was behind him with eight points all coming from within the arc. As a team, Northland shot 21-for-54 (38.9%) from the field, 2-for-16 (12.5%) from deep, and 18-for-27 (66.7%) from the charity stripe. The Jacks had five assists with Flowers and Marvin McBroom pacing the team with 2.
 
Defensively, junior Jahlani Thornton had the most rebounds for the second game in a row this time coming away with four boards. Nine other student-athletes snagged a rebound with Flowers, Hayden Harmoning and Wyatt Kocurek behind Thornton with three. Stephen Kesti had both blocks for the Jacks.
 
Northland returns to the court Saturday as they travel to Storm Lake, Iowa for a 1 p.m., game with Buena Vista University.
