RIPON, Wis. – The Northland College Volleyball team went 2-0 at the Ripon College Triangular defeating Ripon College 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 25-16, 25-20) and Maranatha Baptist University 3-2 (25-17, 11-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12) Saturday afternoon in Ripon, Wis. Freshman
Britta Josephson recorded a season-high 24 kills in the five-set match.

The Jills started off the day with the Red Hawks. Northland dropped the first set 24-26, NC was up 24-23 but dropped the next three points, losing set one. Set two started with Northland jumping out to an early lead. The Jills scored seven unanswered points capped off with a kill from
Bailey Wynn. The Red Hawks started to climb back but the Jills took set two 25-20. In set three Northland scored the first five points with points coming from
Shelby Justman and Wynn. The Jills had their best-hitting set of the day converting on 40.0% of their attacks. This led to them winning the third set 25-16. In the final set, RC got out to a five-point lead at 15-10. Northland climbed back and tied up the set at 18-18 then scored the next three points. Northland went on to win the match 3-1.

In the second match of the day the Jills faced the Saints and traded sets leading to a Northland 3-2 victory. Despite MBU having a better-hitting percentage at .246 to .203 NC won their second match of the day. In set one the Jills scored the final five points with Wynn scoring the 25
th. After falling in set two, the Jills found back to take the third set with Wynn scoring the final point again. The match needed a fifth set to decide a winner. The Saints started with an early edge in the final set. The Jills took their first lead of the set at 7-6 with Wynn scoring the go-ahead point. Northland held on to the lead for the rest of the match with Josephson scoring the final point.

Josephson led the team in both matches with 39 kills, 15 against RC, and a season-high 24 against MBU. Wynn was behind her on the day with 25, recording 12 and 13 kills on the day.
Elizabeth Montgomery and Justman both reached over 10 kills against the Saints with both at 11.
Megan Van Gheem led the Jills in assists with 49 on the day with
Kodie Rempp behind her at 39.
Alexa Zadra scored five service aces at the Ripon College Triangular all against Maranatha Baptist.

Defensively, Wynn led the Jills with 43 digs and Zadra was second at 41. The pair both tallied over 20 in the win over MBU. Justman recorded a solo block in both matches. Wynn had a block and two assisted blocks in the win over Ripon College and Montgomery assisted on two as well.

The Jills return to Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Tuesday as they travel to Superior, Wis., to take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
