Jills Fall Late on the Road Against Martin Luther

NEW ULM, Minn.--- The Northland College Women's Soccer team traveled to New Ulm, MN today for a UMAC conference matchup against Martin Luther College. After the Jills took a 2-1 lead into the half, Martin Luther scored twice in the second to take today's match 3-2 over the Jills.

After a back and forth battle early it was Martin Luther who opened the scoring at the 17' mark of the first to take the early lead. Minutes later, Liberty Dickerson took control, scoring back to back goals just two minutes apart to give the LumberJills the lead. The Jills took the 2-1 lead into halftime. After a quality scoring chance to open things in the second half from Makaria Ottum, MLC found the back of the net to tie the match 2-2. 7 minutes later, a foul inside the box by a LumberJill defender resulted in a penalty kick that MLC was able to capitalize on to take the lead 3-2. Greta Keffer, Dickerson and Izzy Haverkampf each had chances late in the half to tie the match but were unable to find the back of the net as MLC took the conference match over the Jills by a final score of 3-2. 

Elysabeth Lough made 8 saves in net today for the Jills. 

Dickerson finished the game with two goals and 5 shots on net. 

MLC out shot the Jills 16-15. 

The Jills will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Mankato, MN tomorrow (9/23) for a UMAC game against Bethany Lutheran College. Game time is set for 2pm.
