ASHLAND, Wis.--- The Northland College Softball team continued UMAC conference play this afternoon as they hosted Crown College for a double-header. The Jills offense was on full display today, beating Crown 12-3 in game one and after tying the game up late in game two,
Saylor Donnelly hit a walk-off home run to give the Jills the 15-13 win.
Game 1 Box Score
In game one,
Sofia Garcia would get the start on the mound for the Jills. The Jills used four runs in the first inning, one in the second, five in the third and two more in the fourth to take game one 12-3 over Crown.
Kaylee Harnack led all LumberJill at the plate, going a perfect 4-4 with two runs scored. Garcia went 5.0 innings giving up 2 earned runs and struck out 3 batters.
Game 2 Box Score
In game two, Kayle Preisler would get the nod on the hill for the Jills. After giving up five runs in the top of the first, the Jills would explode with 1 run in the first, seven in the second and three more in the third inning to take the 11-5 lead. Crown would however make things interesting, scoring four runs in the fourth inning and would eventually take the 13-11 lead after scoring three runs in the top of the 7th. The Jills started the 7th inning rally with a stolen base from
Jenna Reyes and error from the catcher from Crown as Harnack Scored to make it 13-12. Preisler tied the game with a single through the middle, scoring Reyes to make the score 13-13. Next up was
Saylor Donnelly who crushed a 2 run homerun to give the Jills the win in walk-off fashion, winning in game two 15-13.
Donnelly led all LumberJills at the plate in game two, going 4-5 with 5 rbi's.
Sofia Garcia, who came in to pitch in the fourth inning, would get credit for the win in game two.
The Jills are back in action tomorrow (April 25th) as they host Martin Luther College at LumberJill field. Game one is set to start at 2pm.
