Northland Women's Hockey gave up three power play goals in 5-1 loss to St. Olaf.

Ashland, Wisconsin - Northland College Women's Hockey hit the road again on Friday traveled to St. Olaf University for a non-conference matchup. The LumberJills weren't able to slow down the Oles power play enough as they dropped the contest 5-1.
The LumberJills were able to put the first shot on goal of the game a little over a minute into the first period.
Mahteya Dumelie, who won the opening faceoff, was able to put a shot on frame that was saved by the Oles goalie. Seven Oles' shots in the next five minutes were turned away by Northland's
Teagen Johnson, who made her first start of the season in net, and the Jills defense. St. Olaf was able to score first in the game's eighth minute, before opening up a barrage of shots over the next three minutes. Kyleigh Moffatt ended the shot drought for the LumberJills, before Kate Holtz scored her first collegiate goal on the rebound. Moffatt was credited with her first collegiate assist on the play, and the Jills evened the score. Johnson finished the period with 16 saves.
The second period was not so kind to the LumberJills. St. Olaf was able to use 21 shots on goal, 10 of which came on the power play, to score three times. Johnson made 18 saves in the period, but the two successful PP goals and one even strength goal were too much for Northland to overcome.
A third power play goal in the third period provided the final score of 5-1. Johnson finished the contest with an impressive 47 saves.
Northland (0-2, 0-0 WIAC) will get a second crack at St. Olaf Saturday afternoon, as the two teams conclude their non-conference weekend series. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
