Ultimately, the LumberJills came up just short, dropping the game 2-1.
Northland played a tight first period, despite being outshot 14-4 in the opening period. Sky Hughes made her Northland debut in goal and tallied 13 saves in the period. However, the Cobbers were able to get on the board four minutes into the period. The Northland defense was able to prevent anymore scoring in the period. Neither team visited the penalty box in the first.

Elle Black scored the Jills first goal of the season. Maddie Bloedel picked up an assist on the play, seconds after Northland successfully completed their first penalty kill of the season. The LumberJills were able to hang on, as they headed into the second intermission all tied up.
The Cobbers, again, outshot the LumberJills in the third. Hughes picked up an additional 15 saves in the final period of regulation. The LumberJills had their most productive period in terms of shots, but were unable to get the go-ahead goal, as the Cobbers goalie made all seven saves in the period.
