ASHLAND, Wis.--- The Northland College Volleyball team continued UMAC action this morning as they hosted the University of Minnesota Morris at the Kendrigan Center. After a back and forth match all day, the Jills came away victorious, winning in four sets, 3-1.

In the first set, it was the LumberJills who were able to get out to the early lead. After a
Larissa Fossum kill, the Jills were able to make it 11-5. Late in the first, Morris was able to go on an 8-1 rally to trail 20-19. With the Jills up 23-20, Morris went on to win the next 5 points to take the first set 25-23 over the Jills. In the second set, it was once again the LumberJills who were able to get off to a great start going up 7-1 after two error's from Morris. The two teams would go back and forth the entire set before a service error and a
Shelby Justman kill put the Jills in control of the second set, winning 25-20. The third set continued to be an exciting match as Morris took the 12-9 lead before an impressive 9-0 run for the Jills to give them the 18-12 lead. Morris however would go on a run of their own, winning the next 6 points to tie the match at 18-18. The Jills scored the final four points of the set to close out the third set 25-20. In the fourth, Morris took the commanding 14-8 lead before the Jills continued to scratch and claw back into the set. An
Elizabeth Montgomery kill capped off a 6-0 run to give the Jills the 20-18 lead.
Bailey Wynn and Fossum put the icing on the cake for the Jills moments later with back to back kills to give the Jills the win in the fourth set 25-21 and the match 3-1 over the Cougars.
Larissa Fossum led all LumberJills with 16 kills.
Rachel Callow collected 35 assists and
Alexa Zadra led all LumberJills in digs with 30.
With today's win the Jills moved to a 8-6 overall record and to 3rd place in the UMAC with a 3-2 record.
The Jills are back in action next Saturday as they travel to Minneapolis, MN for a double-header against North Central MN and Northwestern MN.
