Ashland, WI - The Northland College Lumberjacks dropped their first UMAC game of the season on Saturday evening. The Jacks couldn't overcome a slow first half and ultimately fell to the UW-Superior Yellowjackets by a score of 85-64. Both the Jacks and the Yellowjackets are now 2-1 in the UMAC.
The Yellowjackets took a 44-25 lead into the break thanks to some hot shooting as they shot 7-12 from the beyond the arc in the first half. The Yellowjackets waisted no time in the second half and opened up a 33 point lead at one point. The Jacks showed some fight throughout the final minutes as they used a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 18, but the Yellowjackets were able to regain their composure and see the game out to improve to 2-1 in league play.
Tyler Tuura led the Jacks with 12 points and eight rebounds while
Drew Lindberg added 10 points on 4-9 shooting.
The Jacks are in action next when they host two UMAC games next weekend. UM-Morris comes to Ashland on Friday evening for a 7:15PM tip-off and the Crown College Storm travel to Northland on Saturday for a 4:45PM start.
