River Falls, WI - The Northland College Lumberjacks battled for all three periods on Saturday evening against the UW-River Falls Falcons, but ultimately the Falcons were able to come away with a 3-1 win over the Jacks. The Jacks are now 4-13-3 and 1-9-1 in the WIAC while the Falcons improved to 11-9-1 and 7-4 in the WIAC.
Saturday's matchup was similar to Thursdays when the Jacks earned a hard fought 2-1 win.
Luke Hartge scored in the first period for the Jacks to even the score at 1-1 after a Falcons short handed goal early in the period. The Falcons took a 2-1 lead early in the second period and while the Jacks created chances throughout the rest of the game, the Falcons were able to hold onto their 2-1 lead until late in the third period when they added an empty net goal with seconds remaining.
Chris Curr made 28 stops in net for the Jacks.
The Jacks return to action on Wednesday when they host the College of Saint Scholastica.
