Jills Explode for 40 Runs in Two Game Sweep Over North Central

ASHLAND, Wis.-- The Northland College Softball team hosted North Central MN today at LumberJill Field to open the UMAC Conference season. The Jills would explode for 40 runs between the two games winning game one, 22-0 and cruised to victory in game two, winning18-2. 

Game 1

The Jills used 10 runs in the first inning, 2 in the 3rd inning and 10 more in the 4th inning to roll to a 22-0 victory in game one. Kaylee Harnack would have a monster day at the plate for the Jills, going 3-5 with an incredible 8 rbi's. Markia Smith would also collect 3 hits in game one. 

Sofia Garcia would get the start on the mound for the Jills in game one and would come down to one final batter from pitching a no hitter before giving up a hit in the top of the 5th inning. She finished the day going 5.0 innings, giving up 1 hit and would strike out 10. 

Game 2

In game two, Kayle Preisler would get the start on the mound for the LumberJills. The Jills had a balance attack at the plate in game two, scoring 7 runs in the first, 3 in the second, 2 in the 3rd and 6 in the fourth inning to roll to a 18-2 win. Smith would continue her strong hitting at the plate in game two, going 2-2 with 3 runs scored. 

Preisler went on to pitch 5.0 innings, giving up 5 hits and would strike out 8. 

The Jills will continue UMAC Conference play this Saturday (April 10th) at Crown College in St. Bonifacious, MN. Game one of the double-header will start at 1pm.
