Jacks Firing on all Cylinders in Sweep over Martin Luther

NEW ULM, Minn.-- The Northland College Baseball team traveled to New Ulm, MN today for a UMAC doubleheader vs. Martin Luther College. The Jacks would hang on for the 6-4 game one win and explode for 18 runs in a 18-5 game two win. 

Game 1

In game one, Jesse Carmona would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. The Jacks struck first in the top of the second inning as Matt Simpson singled up the middle, scoring Joseph Veit to make it 1-0. The Jacks were able to add three insurance runs in the top of the 4th inning as Rian Arreazola, Jake Schramm and Keaton Arreazola all collected rbi hits to make it 4-0 for the Jacks. In the 7th, Veit doubled to left center, scoring Adrian Bethel and Jake Schramm had an rbi sac hit, scoring Garrett warren to make it 6-0. Martin Luther would do their best with their rally caps on in the 8th and 9th inning, scoring 4 runs but Eli Hart and Joel Eason came in to pitch relief and shut the door as the Jacks took game 1, 6-4. 

Camona, who pitched tremendous for the Jacks, went 7.0 innings, only allowing 3 hits and gave up 0 earned runs while striking out 10 batters. 

Schramm, Veit and Rian Arreazola led the Jacks offense in game 1 with 2 hits each. 

Game 2

In game two, Seth Hackbarth would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. The Jacks exploded for 8 runs to open game two, as Shawn O'Connell, Garrett Warren and Rian Arreazola would each collect rbi hits. The Jacks were able to extend their lead in the second inning as O'Connell and Schram collected rbi hits as the Jacks took a commanding 12-0 lead. After a run scored by MLC in the third, the Jacks offense once again came alive with five more runs as Bethel and Warren collected rbi hits as the Jacks took a 17-1 lead.  Zach Ross later had an rbi single in the 7th inning as the Jacks went on to take game two, 18-5. 

Hackbarth finished his day going 7.0 innings, giving up 2 erned runs off of 11 hits while striking out 6 batters. 

Warren led all Jacks hitters in game two going 3-4 at the plate with 2 rbi's and 2 runs scored. 

Next up for the Jacks is a road trip to Fond Du Lac, WI to take on Marian University in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is set to start at 1pm.
