Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Jacks Travel to UNW

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- The Northland College Lacrosse team traveled to Minneapolis, MN to face-off vs. Northwestern MN in a Midwest Lacrosse Conference match-up. With last week's game being postponed due to weather in Ashland last week right before halftime, the two teams finished the game from last week and met again for the regularly scheduled game on the campus of UNW. The Jacks would fall in both games by scores of 25-9 and 23-5.

Game 1

After trailing 12-4 before halftime last week in Ashland, UNW used four goals in the third period and eight goals in the fourth to take the game 25-9. Northland, who also had four goals in the third period in game one, had goals from Tristan Petrie, Connor Taylor, Jakob Wohlford and Cody Pfaller

Game 2

In game two, after trailing 3-0 in the first, Jakob Wohlford got the Jacks on the board. He was assisted by Jackson Breton to make it 3-1. UNW would however continue to up the pressure offensively to lead 7-1 after the first. Wohlford and Breton would continue their strong starts of the 2021 season in the second, both scoring goals but the UNW was increased to 16-3 before halftime. Wohlford would once again find the twine in the third and Matt Maldusky sniped one past the goalkeeper of UNW but it wouldn't be enough as UNW would go on to take game two, 23-5.

Danny Gentile (9 saves) and Viktor Wennberg (7 saves) each split time in goal for game two.

The Jacks will travel back down to the campus of UNW this Sunday (April 19th) for a neutral site Midwest Lacrosse Conference game vs. Cornell College. Game time is set to start at 1pm.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
