Jills Win Nail-biter in Game One, Drop Game Two vs. Hamline University

Northfield, Min.-- The Northland College Softball team traveled to Northfield, MN this afternoon for a non-conference double header vs. Hamline Univerisity. The Jills would win a nail biter in game, winning 2-1 before dropping game two 9-1.

Game 1

Sofia Garcia would continue her strong start of the 2021 season and get the nod on the mound for the Jills in game 1. The score would remain scoreless until the 5th inning before Cameron Charleston slapped an rbi single down the right field line, scoring Patience Swafford as the Jills took the 1-0 lead.  The defense and pitching for the LumberJills would be on full display in the bottom of the 6th inning as the Jills were able to get out of a bases loaded jam to keep the score knotted at 1-0. The Jills added an insurance run in the top of the 7th inning as Jenna Reyes hammered a double to center field scoring Natalie Erler. The Pipers would make things interesting in the bottom frame as the Pipers would add a run of their own, but the pitching from Garcia and defense for the Jills would stand strong, taking game one 2-1.
