Saint Bonifacious/Minneapolis, Minn.-- The Northland College Volleyball team continued its start of the 2020-21 season this afternoon in a UMAC conference game vs. Crown College and a non-conference game vs. North Central College. The Jills came away victorious vs. Crown in three sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-19) but would fall vs. North Central in five sets (20-25, 17-25, 25-18, 25-21, 12-15).
Game 1
Larissa Fossum (12),
Justine Litherland (10) and
Bailey Wynn (8) would lead the way for the LumberJills in kills in the (25-21, 25-18, 25-19) three set win over Crown College.
Makenna Nelson would also finish the match with 48 assists and 2 aces.
Alexa Zadra would also have 2 aces in the match.
Kennedi Bernia would have a solid game, finishing with 23 digs, leading all LumberJills.
The win over Crown moved the Jills to 2-2 in UMAC conference play and in sole possession of 5th place in the conference.
Game 2
Elizabeth Montgomery (12),
Larissa Fossum (12) and
Justine Litherland (11) woudl lead the Jills in kills vs. North Central University in game two's five set loss (20-25, 17-25, 25-18, 12-15). Nelson finished with 42 assists on the day. Zadra (16), Fossum (16) and Bernia (13) led the LumberJills in digs.
The Jills will look for some pay back vs. North Central as they host them this Thursday (March 25th) at home in a Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match at the Kendrigan Center in Ashland. Game time is set to start at 7pm.
