Superior, Wis.-- The Northland College Baseball team continued it's start of the 2021 season today in Superior, WI vs. UW-Superior in a non-conference double header. The Jacks would fall in both games by scores of 22-8 and 15-14.
Game 1
UWS used 4 runs in the first inning and 9 in the second inning to jump out to the early lead to jump out to the commanding lead in game 1 of today's double header.
Keaton Arreazola got the Jacks on the board in the top of the 3rd inning with a solo home run and
Joseph Veit would bring in another run in the 4th inning, hammering a double down the right field line, scoring
Adrian Bethel. The Jacks scored 6 runs in the 6th inning as Veit,
Rian Arreazola,
Matt Simpson, Jacob Schramm and
Keaton Arreazola would all collect rbi's but it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks would fall in game one, 22-8.
Veit led all LumberJack hitters at the plate, going a perfect 3-3 with 1 run scored an 2 rbi's.
Game 2
In game two it was the LumberJacks this time jumping out to the early lead, scoring 5 runs in the fist inning, highlighted by a grand slam home run by
Rian Arreazola. The Jacks added 3 more runs in he top of the second inning as
Rian Arreazola hammered a 2 rbi single to center field and the Jacks took the early 8-0 lead. After 3 UWS runs in the second the Jacks exploded for another time at the plate, scoring 6 more runs as Schramm,
Zach Ross,
Noah Cross, Veit,
Rian Arreazola and
Shawn O'Connell would all collect rbi's to increase the LuberJack lead to 14-3. UWS would start to chip away however, scoring runs in the 3,4,5 innings and explode for 6 runs in the 6th inning to take the 15-14 lead. The Jacks were unable to bring any runners home in the later half of the game and went on to drop the game 15-14.
Rian Arreazola would have an incredible day at the plate in game two, going 3-4 with 7 rbi's.
The Jacks will look for some payback tomorrow afternoon (March 21) in a rematch vs. UWS in Superior, WI. Game one is set for 1:30pm.
