Minneapolis, Minn.-- The Northland College Men's Lacrosse team opened the 2021 season in Minneapolis, MN vs. the Cornell College Rams. Today's game also marked the first ever game for the Jacks in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. The Jacks would lead at halftime, but ultimately fall to Cornell by a final score of 12-8.

Defense would be on full display in this one early on but a Cornell goal at the half way mark of the first would make it 1-0 for the Rams. Jackson Breton would find the twine with just a minute left in the first period and the score would remain tied 1-1 after the first. 

Jakob Wohlford would give the Jacks the first lead of the game early in the second. He was assisted by Breton. After three Cornell goals, Breton would find his second of the game to make it 4-3 in favor of the Rams. With less than 4 minutes to play before half, the Jacks would hammer 3 goals, Jakob Wohlford, Bailey Lang and Tristan Petrie would all hit the twine before the half and the Jacks would take the 6-5 lead into halftime. 

After an Anden Stroik goal early in the third period, Cornell would carry the play on the score sheet in the second half, out scoring Northland 3-1 in the third period and 4-1 in the 4th to take the game 12-8 over the Jacks. 

Northland would outshoot Cornell 40-28 in today's game. 

Breton would lead all LumberJacks with 3 goals scored. 

The Jacks are back in action next weekend (March 20th) vs. Monmouth College. Game time is set for 4pm.
