Softball Opens Season vs. Scholastica

The Northland College Softball team opened the 2021 season vs. St. Scholastica at the Dundas Dome in Minnesota. The Jills would fall in both games, 6-0 and 11-3.

Game 1
Game 2

Scholastica would hold the Jills to only 1 hit in game one, coming off the bat of Elizabeth Peters. Scholastica would score runs in the 3rd and 5th innings to take the win. Sofia Garcia would strike out 8 and pitch all 6 innings for the Jills in the loss. 

In game two, Peters would double down the right field line, scoring Jenna Reyes and Kaylee Harnack to tie the game up at two a piece. Scholastica would respond in a big way, with runs in the 4th, 6th and 7th innings to make it 11-2. Reyes would hammer a single up the middle, scoring Harnack but it wouldn't be enough as the Jills would fall 11-3 in game two. Kayla Preisler and Natalie Randolph would both see time on the rubber for the Jills. Harnack would go a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Jills.  

The Jills will continue play at the Dundas Dome next weekend as they take on Ripon College in a double header (2-26). Game one is set to start at 6pm. 

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
