Ashland, WI - The Northland College Lumberjacks faced off against the UW-Eau Clair Blugolds for the second night in a row on Saturday afternoon. The Jacks battled with the Blugolds for two and half periods, but the the Blugolds exploded late in the third period for four quick goals to seal a 6-1 win.
The Jacks trailed 2-0 early in the first period before
Kurt Sonne found the back of the net on a powerplay to make the score 2-1. The Jacks entered the second period trailing and seemed destined to even the score as they outshot the Blugolds 16-9, but ultimately the Blugolds were able to keep the Jacks off the scoreboard and take a 2-1 lead into the third period.
The game remained close until halfway through the third period when the Blugolds piled on four goals in a five minute span which finished the game at 6-1.
The Jacks are off until February 14th when they travel to UW-Stevens Point.
