Duluth, MN – The Northland College Lumberjacks men's basketball program traveled to the College of Saint Scholastica on Wednesday afternoon and ultimately fell to the Saints by a score of 78-53. The Jacks were led by
Ryan Rawlings who had 16 points while shooting 6-11 from the field.
Both teams started out the game slowly with the Saints only gaining a three-point advantage over the LumberJacks, 9-6. The Saints then went on an 11-5 run in the next four minutes to increase their lead to double digits at 20-9. After five straight points by Northland, St. Scholastica would close out the final seven minutes of the half scoring 21 straight points.
The Jacks battled back in the second half and started out the first seven minutes of the half with an 18-4 run to bring the score to 45-32. After a 13-2 run from the Saints, the Jacks went on a 14-4 run of their own to bring the score back within 12 points at 60-48. From there, the Saints dug in and were able to cut the comeback effort short.
Jens Gehl was in double figures for the Jacks with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Hunter Moe added 10 points for the Jacks as well.
The Jacks are in action next on Saturday when they host UM-Morris.
