Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Jacks Win at the Buzzer

New Ulm, MN - Trailing by 1 with just a few seconds to play, the Northland College Lumberjacks Ryan Rawlings dribbled the length of the court and pulled up from 17 feet and drained a jumper as the clock expired, giving the Jacks a 75-74 win.

In similar style to the first time these two teams met in Ashland, the game stayed close throughout the night.  The Knights tried to pull away in the first half and at one point led by 11, but the Jacks scored the half's last six points to pull within five at the break.

The Jacks trailed 72-70 in the final minute in the second half until Jordan Brennan hit a three to give the Jacks the lead with 34 seconds left to play.  The Knights responded on the other end with a short jumper to take the lead at 74-73.  The Jacks only had six seconds left, but Rawlings was able to get close enough and fire off a jumper as the clock expired to give his team the win.

The Lumberjacks entered the game making an average of eight three-point field goals per game, but made 14 against the Knights and shot 37.8 percent from downtown. MLC answered with an inside scoring attack that out-scored Northland 46-16 in the paint and finished the game shooting 52.4 percent.  Rawlings had 17 points on the night while Brennan led the team with 19.

The Jacks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to the College of St. Scholastica.
