Ashland, WI – The Northland College Lumberjills hosted the Marian College Sabres on Friday evening in non-conference action. The Sabres scored one goal in the first and two in the third to take a 3-0 win. With the win the Sabres improve to 4-11-1 while the Jills drop to 5-11.
The Jills fell behind early in the first period when Morgan Bolin found the back of the net just four minutes into the period. The rest of the period was relatively even as the Jills created several chances and fired eight shots on goal, but they were unable to beat the Marian goaltender and they ended the first period trailing 1-0.
After a scoreless second period the Sabres added two goals in the third period to earn the 3-0 win.
Gabby Suhr got the start in net and recorded 36 saves.
The Jills return to action tomorrow when they host Marian in a rematch. Game time is set for 3:00pm.
