Jacks Travel to Crown

Minneapolis, MN-

The Northland College Baseball team traveled to Minneapolis, MN today for a UMAC doubleheader vs. Crown College. The Jacks would fall in both games by scores of 9-8 and 18-1. 

Game 1

In game one, Riley Reuter would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. The Jacks would open he scoring in the top of the first inning as Noah Cross would rip a double to center field, scoring Jake Schramm to make it 1-0. Later in the inning, Adrian Bethel doubled to right center, scoring Cross as the Jacks would take the early 2-0 lead. Reuter would pitch well throughout the early innings, as Crown would add a run in the bottom of the third. The Jacks would find a way for runners to come across the board in the top of the fourth as Shawn O'Connell singled to the right side, scoring Adrian Bethel. Austin Stuckart later singled to left field, scoring O'Connell. Rian Arreazola came up with a clutch single to left field, scoring Alex Carey as the Jacks took the 5-1 lead. Crown would however answer, with runs in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th innings to take the 9-5 lead. The Jacks would not quit in the top of the 9th as Cross doubled down the right field line, scoring Schramm. Noah Cross and Adrian Bethel would both later score in the inning but it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks would fall in game 1, 9-8. 

Austin Stuckart, Jake Schramm, Adrian Bethel and Shawn O'Connell would lead the Jacks at the plate in game one with two hits each. 

Game 2

In game two, Kyle Wallace would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. Crown would explode for runs early in this one and would jump out to the early lead and not look back after scoring 9 runs in the third inning. Kyle Pouncy would get the Jacks on the board in the top of the fifth inning with a triple, scoring Carson Ferry but Crown would go on to take game two, 18-1.

Noah Cross and Adrian Bethel would lead all Jacks hitters with two hits each. 

The Jacks will continue UMAC play this Tuesday (April 30th) on the road at St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN for a doubleheader. Game one is set to start at 1:30pm
