Jacks Sweep Robert Morris- Peoria

Normal, IL-

The Northland College Baseball team continued their series vs. Robert Morris- Peoria in a doubleheader this afternoon in Normal, IL. The Jacks would pick up the sweep, winning both games by scores of 18-9 and 8-1.

Game 1

In game one, Kyle Wallace would get the start on the mound for the Jacks. Robert Morris would strike first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Jacks would respond with four of their own as Joseph Veit would reach on a 2 rbi fielder's choice. Garrett Warren would later rip an rbi single, scoring Rian Arreazola. Kyle Pouncy later hit a 2 rbi single, scoring Warren and Veit to make it 4-1. Robert Morris would not back down, scoring runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take the 7-4 lead. The Jacks would respond in a big way with an 8 run explosion in the top of the fifth, highlighted by a 2 rbi triple from Kyle Pouncy, as the Jacks would retake the lead 12-7. Robert Morris would two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Jacks would keep their foot on the gas at the plate with six more in the sixth and would go on to take game one, 18-9.

Shawn O'Connell and Garrett Warren would lead the Jacks at the plate with three hits a piece. 

Earl Kraft, Jonathan Knusta, Carson Ferry, Noah Viner and Seth Hackbarth would each see time on the mound in relief action. 

Game 2

In game two, Riley Reuter would get the start on the hill for the Jacks. The Jacks would waste little time in this one as Jake Schramm would score off of a wild pitch to take the early 1-0 lead. Noah Cross would pick up an rbi single in the top of the third inning, scoring Schramm to make it 2-0. Robert Morris would add a run in the bottom of the third but the Jacks would respond with four runs in the fifth inning as Carson Ferry would blast a 3 rbi home run, to make it 6-1 for the Jacks. The Jacks would add insurance runs in the 6th as Austin Stuckart would later rip an rbi double again scoring Shramm and Noah Cross would rip an rbi double, scoring Stuckart and the Jacks would go on to take game two, 8-1. 

Riley Reuter would pitch a gem in game two for the Jacks, pitching the complete game as he only gave up 4 hits and struck out 5 in 7 innings of work. 

Noah Cross would go a perfect 4-4 at the plate, leading all LumberJack hitters. 

The Jacks will open up UMAC Conference play next weekend (April 7th) as they host Northwestern MN at home. Game one is set to start at 1:30 pm.
