Jacks Drop 2 vs. Illinois College

Jacksonville, IL-

The Northland College Baseball team traveled to Jacksonville, IL today for a non-conference doubleheader vs. Illinois College. The Jacks would fall in both games by scores of 6-5 and 8-4.

Game 1

In game one, the Jacks would get things started in the top of the second inning as Jake Schramm would have an rbi single to third base, scoring Kyle Pouncy to make it 1-0 for the Jacks. The Jacks would widen their lead in the top of the third inning as Kyle Pouncy would have a 2rbi triple, scoring Adrian Bethel and Shawn O'Connell to make it 3-0. Alex Carey would later fly out to right field for an rbi sac fly, scoring Pouncy to make it 4-0. Illinois College would add two runs in the bottom of the third, but the Jacks added one of their own as hot-hitting Noah Cross would hammer a double to right center, scoring Austin Stuckart to make it 5-2 for the Jacks. Illinois would rally late, scoring one run in the 4th and 1 run in the 5th and later walk off the game in the bottom of the 7th inning off a 2rbi double as the Jacks would fall 6-5. 

Austin Stuckart and Kyle Pouncy would lead the Jacks at the plate, both going 2-3. 

Game 2

In game two, the Jacks would explode for three runs in the top of the first inning jumping out to the early 3-0 lead as Noah Cross would have an rbi sac fly. Ben Matteson would later, rip an rbi double to left center, scoring Austin Stuckart. Adrian Bethel would later single, scoring Ben Matteson to make it 3-0. Illinois College would later, take the lead after runs in the 1st, 3rd and 4th innings, making it 8-3. The Jacks would come close through the middle innings, but would be unable to put any runs home. In the top of the 7th, Kyle Pouncy would continue his strong play at the plate with an rbi single to right field to make it 8-4, but it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks would fall by a final score of 8-4. 

Adrian Bethel and Jack Schramm would lead the Jacks at the plate, going 2-3. 

The Jacks are back in action tomorrow afternoon (March 24) in Jacksonville, IL vs. Macmurray College for a doubleheader. Game one is set for 12pm.
