Jacks Lose Tiebreaker

The Jacks faced off against the Marian University Sabres for their second game of the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs Quarterfinals.
 
Neither team would score early in the first, as they would take turns attacking the net. With 10:29 elapsed in the period the Sabres struck first, taking a 1-0 lead over the Jacks. The Jacks tied it up minutes later when Cole Woodliffe ripped a shot past the Sabres' goaltender. He was assisted by Kalib (Gus) Ford and Zackary Fisher. The Sabres would score twice more before the end of the period. The Jacks would go into the second down 3-1.
 
The Jacks pressured the Sabres' defense early in the second, but weren't able to get any shots to land. The Sabres added an insurance goal with 8:18 elapsed in the period. They would score once more before the end of the period. The Jacks threatened multiple times in the final seconds, but would go into the third down 5-1.
 
The teams battled for possession for a majority of the third, as neither team would get it into the back of the net. The Jacks continued to record shots on goal, but weren't able to cut down the Sabres' lead. They would lose by a final score of 5-1.
 
David Krejcik finished with 19 saves, while Taylor Unruh came on in the third recording 13 saves.
 
A 20-minute mini-game would be needed to decide who would advance in the Harris Cup Playoffs.
 
The Sabres would score with 1:24 elapsed. A power play opportunity would allow the Jacks to put pressure on the Sabres, but wouldn't be able to tie it up. The Jacks continued to create opportunities, but ran out of time. They lost by a final score of 1-0.
