Ashland, WI -the Northland College Lumberjacks scored three unanswered goals on Saturday evening to pick up their first WIAC win of the year, beating the nationally ranked UW-Stevens Point Pointers by a score of 3-2.
Gennaro Anzevino made 24 saves in net for the Jacks, including 15 in the second period to keep the game close.
Kurt Sonne scored two goals in the win, including the game winner midway through the third period.
Ty Krause and
Kyle Pouncy had two assists on the evening with Krause also adding a goal of his own.
With the win the Jacks improve to 3-6 on the year and 1-3 in the WIAC. The Jacks are in action next on Friday when they host UW-Superior in another WIAC contest.
