Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Jills Defeat Royals

ASHLAND, Wis. - The Northland College women's hockey team bounced back Saturday night in a 2-0 victory over the Bethel Royals.  The first period ended up having both goals scored, however, the entire game was action packed.

In the 1st period, the Jills jumped out of the gate on fire.  They were able to put 8 shots on goal and tallied two on the board.  Saylor Donnelly opened the scoring with a shot from distance six minutes into the game.  The goal was assisted by Bridget Allex.  Six minutes later, the Jills would double their lead on a fantastic shot by Allyson Reilly.  The goal was assisted by Karadyn Kiviaho.

In the 2nd period, the Jills held off the Royals in tremendous fashion.  Bethel pelted the net with 10 shots.  Gabby Suhr was up to the task and kept the Royals off the board. The Jills would finish off the game, and they were able to shutout the Royals in their first win of the year.

After the game, Head Coach, Kelly Rider said, "Our captains, our starting goaltender, and Allyson Reilly were our best players tonight. When they play like that, they bring out the best in everyone else.  And we'll always have a chance. I could not be more proud of their effort in the opening weekend."

The Jills will be in action on Tuesday evening as they take on Finlandia University at 5pm at the Bay Area Civic Center. Go Jills!
