The Northland College Lumberjacks put on an offensive show on Friday evening, scoring five goals in a 5-0 shutout win over Bethel University. The Jacks used goals in the first two periods before three goals in the third, two of which came in the final minute. With the win, the Jacks improved to 1-2 on the year.
Taylor Unruh made 25 saves for the Jacks and picked up is first shutout of the season.
Northland's
Daniel Chartrand opened the scoring six minutes into the contest taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission with assists from
Jacob Jeske and
Ty Kraus. In the second period Bethel had opportunities while outshooting the Jacks 11-9 but it was Northland who came away with a power play goal with 25 seconds left. Kraus scored his second goal of the game off of assists by Kalib Ford and
Kyle Pouncy.
In the third, the Lumberjacks went up three goals just 4:09 into the period with a goal from Pouncy. Bethel killed off a delay of game penalty before Northland scored two goals in the final minute. Chartrand added his second goal of the game and Marshall Nikkitin finished off the scoring for the Jacks.
