Jacks Win OT Thriller against Saints

Ashland, WI -

The LumberJacks hosted #10 ranked The College of St. Scholastica Saints tonight at the Bay Area Civic Center.

The teams came out evenly matched to start the first period, both tallying shots on goal. Zackary Fisher would rip a shot into the net to put the Jacks up 1-0 with 14:46 minutes elapsed in the period. He was assisted by Kalib (Gus) Ford and Jared Hester on the play. Just over a minute later Lucas DeBenedet would put it in the net, giving the Jacks a 2-0 lead. He was assisted by Kurt Sonne and Cole Woodliffe on the play. The Jacks would take their 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

The teams would skate up and down the ice battling for possession of the puck for the majority of the second. However, Lucas DeBenedet would score his second goal of the game to put the Jacks up 3-0. Matt Murphy and Zackary Fisher were credited with assists on the play. The Saints would threaten multiple times, but wouldn't be able to break through until 19:30 elapsed in the period. The Jacks would go into the third period up 3-1.

The Saints would score 18 seconds into the third period, cutting the Jacks lead down to one. The Jacks would threaten to widen their lead, but couldn't find the back of the net. With 10:45 elapsed in the period the Saints would find a way to tie it up at 3-3. The game would go into overtime.

The Jacks wouldn't need much time to get the job done as Zackary Fisher would end it with his second goal of the game. He was assisted by Kalib (Gus) Ford.

David Krejcik finished the game with 31 saves.

The Jacks will be back in action tomorrow (1/5) at The College of St. Scholastica. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
