The Jills faced off against the Finlandia University Lions today for their second matchup of the weekend.
The Jills controlled the puck early in the first, as they immediately pressured the Lions.
Samantha Scott gave the Jills their first lead of the game as she would rip a shot past the Lions' goaltender. Less than two minutes later
Ashley Hammes would find the back of the net to put the Jills up by two. She was assisted by
Michaela Isetts-Williams and
Vivienne Kallio on the play. The Jills would go into the first intermission up 2-0.
The Jills wasted little time in the second as
Ashley Hammes would score her second goal of the game, putting the Jills up 3-0. She was assisted by
Karadyn Kiviaho. The Jills continued to add to their lead when
Robyn Matula would put it between the pipes to give the Jills a 4-0 lead. She was assisted by
Allyson Reilly. The Jills would go into the third up 4-0.
Allyson Reilly would put the Jills up 5-0 with 4:08 elapsed in the period. She was assisted by
Samantha Scott and
Mikayla Santjer on the play. Just over two minutes later the Jills would score again as
Madysen Zachmeier found the back of the net. She was assisted by
Megan Adair. The Lions would get on the board before the end of the period, but it wouldn't be enough as the Jills would go on to win by a final score of 6-1.
Gabby Suhr finished the day with 22 saves.
The Jills out-shot the Lions 41-23.
The Jills will be back on the ice 2/1 at home against Lake Forest College. Puck drop is set for 3pm.
