The Jills hosted Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opponent the Lake Forest College Foresters today at the Bay Area Civic Center.
 
The teams raced up and down the ice battling for possession of the puck early in the period. The Foresters would pressure the Jills as they began to tally shots on goal. However, strong defensive play by the Jills would keep them out of the net and off the board. The Jills would create opportunities late, but couldn't break the scoreless tie. The Jills would go into the second tied 0-0.
 
The second mirrored the first early on as the Foresters would pressure the Jills, but the Jills would continue to stay strong defensively, keeping the Foresters at bay. However, with seconds remaining in the period the Foresters would break through, taking a 1-0 lead over the Jills. The Jills would go into the third down 1-0.
 
An early penalty in the third would set the Foresters up for a penalty shot, giving them a 2-0 lead. The Jills would threaten to cut down the Foresters' lead, but weren't able to break through. The Foresters would add an empty net insurance goal late in the period. The Jills would fall by a final score of 3-0.
 
Gabby Suhr finished the game with 32 saves.
 
The Jills will be back on the ice tomorrow 2/2 at home for their second game of the weekend against the Foresters. Puck drop is set for 2pm.
