The Jills hosted an Upper Midwest Conference Triangular today, hosting the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings and the Crown College Storm.
In the first game of the day the Jills faced off against the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings.
The Jills kept close to the Vikings in the first set. However, a 5 point rally by the Vikings would allow them to pull away and take the first set 25-16.
In set 2, the Jills got their offense going. They would take the lead multiple times in the set, but wouldn't be able to hold on. The Vikings took set 2 25-20.
In the final set of the match, the Jills offense would continue to hold strong, keeping pace with the Vikings. The Jills would get to within two of the Vikings late in the set, but wouldn't be able to catch the Vikings in time, they would drop the final set 25-22.
Vivienne Kallio led the Jills with 6 kills, while
Caitlyn Severson added 10 assists.
Adrianna Galtieri finished with 16 digs.
Game 2
In their second game of the day the Jills took on Crown College.
In set 1, both teams came out evenly matched as they would fight for the lead. It would be a back and forth battle, but the Jills would come out on top 27-25.
The second set saw the Jills jump out to a 9-3 lead. The Storm would fight their way back into the game and catch the Jills. However, the Jills would stay on top to take the match 25-21.
The Jills struggled to get their offense going in the third set, as the Storm would be able pull away. They would lose 26-17.
In the final set of the night, the teams would continue to trade rallies with one another. However, the Jills would be able to hold on to their lead and take the set 25-21. The Jills would win the match 3-1.
Justine Litherland finished with 12 kills, while
Hannah Hitchcock recorded 21 assists.
Adrianna Galtieri tallied 30 digs in the match.
The Jills will be on the road 9/28 in Watertown, WI for games against Maranatha Baptist University and Finlandia University.
