The Jills traveled to Hancock, MI today for a nonconference matchup against the Finlandia University Lions.
In the first set the Lions jumped out in front with a 2-0 lead. The Lions widened their lead later in the set, but the Jills would be able to cut the deficit. A late 4 point rally by the Jills would get them to within 2, but they wouldn't be able to complete the comeback. They dropped set one 25-22.
The Jills struggled early in the second set. A 10 point rally by the Lions would make it difficult for the Jills to gain ground. They would lose the second set 25-11.
In what would be the final set of the match the Lions would get out to a 9-1 lead early. The Jills would start to find their stride and cut the Lions lead down to 4. However, it would be too late as the Lions would hold on to win the set 25-15 and take the match 3-0.
Vivienne Kallio led the Jills with 4 kills, while
Adrianna Galtieri would record 17 digs in the match.
The Jills will play again 9/15 on the road against the University of Northwestern and the University of Minnesota Morris in Morris, MN. The first match is set to begin at 4pm.
