The Jills squared off against the Concordia College Cobbers today for their second game of the weekend at the Bay Area Civic Center.
The Jills wasted little time in the first as
Karadyn Kiviaho would race down the ice and put it in the back of the net, giving the Jills the first lead of the game. The Cobbers would tie it up a few minutes later at 12:16 elapsed in the period. Neither team would be able to break the tie before the end of the period and would go into the first intermission with the 1-1 tie still intact.
A Jills' penalty would create an opportunity for the Cobbers early in the second, but the Jills were able to keep them off the board. With 8:07 elapsed in the second
Robyn Matula would break the tie and put the Jills up 2-1. With less than a minute remaining in the period the Cobbers would tie it up again. They would go into the third tied up at 2-2.
The Cobbers pressured the Jills early in the third, but the Jills would keep them at bay. Less than five minutes into the period, Matula would once again find the net, putting the Jills up 3-2. She was assisted by
Michaela Isetts-Williams and
Allyson Reilly on the play. Less than a minute later
Saylor Donnelly would put it between the pipes to put the Jills up by two. She was assisted by
Megan Adair. The Jills added an insurance goal late in the period when
Robyn Matula would score her third goal of the game. She was assisted by
Jess Jerome. The Jills would hold on and win by a final score of 5-2.
Gabby Suhr recorded 42 saves in the game.
The Jills will be back on the ice 1/4 at Bethel University. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
