The Jacks traveled to New Ulm, MN today where they squared off against the Martin Luther College Knights for their first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference matchup of the season.
The Knights jumped out to a 8-1 lead over the Jacks to start the first half. The Jacks would start to find their rhythm and make some key defensive plays to get to within one of the Knights. The Jacks' offense continued to fire on all cylinders throughout the first half, as they would end the half on a 10-0 run. The Jacks would go into halftime up 28-26.
The Knights tied it up to start the second half, but it wouldn't last as the Jacks quickly regained the lead. The Jacks widened their lead to four, but the Knights would come back to tie the game up at 37-37. Eventually the Knights would retake the lead, but the Jacks continued to be persistent, taking a 52-50 lead. The Jacks would start to pull away from there, building an 8 point lead over the Knights. The Jacks would hold on to win by a final score of 64-56.
Modesta Britten tallied a team high 16 points, while Ben Arqueros Jr. and Benny Larry Jr. each added 14 points. Britten also recorded a team high 12 rebounds.
The Jacks will be back in action 12/12 at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The game is set to begin at 7:30pm.
