Ashland, WI -
The Jills hosted the Concordia College Cobbers tonight at the Bay Area Civic Center for a non-conference contest.
The teams skated up and down the ice battling for control of the puck to start the first period. The Jills would strike first as
Michaela Isetts-Williams would break away and rip a shot into the back of the net, giving the Jills the first lead of the game. However, the Cobbers would tie it up with less than two minutes remaining in the period. The Jills would go into the first intermission all tied up at 1-1.
The Cobbers took the lead to start the second, but the Jills would answer with a goal from
Mikayla Santjer. She was assisted by
Emma Vandergeest and Saylor Donnely. However, the Cobbers would add two more goals before the end of the period, taking a 4-2 lead over the Jills.
The Jills continued to chip away at the Cobbers' lead in the third, as
Emma Vandergeest put it between the pipes to get the Jills to within one. Less than two minutes later
Robyn Matula would tie it up for the Jills with a goal of her own. However, it wouldn't be enough as the Cobbers would score three more times before the end of the period. The Jills fell by a final score of 7-4.
Morgan Hirsch recorded 25 saves in the game.
The Jills will be back at home tomorrow for another match against Concordia College. Puck drop is set for 3pm.
