The Jills traveled to Stevens Point today for a non-conference neutral site contest against the Mount Mary Blue Angels.
The Jills struck first to start the game, but the Blue Angels battled back to take the lead. The Blue Angels took a four point lead over the Jills. However, it wouldn't last as the Jills quickly tied the game at 15-15. The back and forth battle continued throughout the second quarter, as both teams would take the lead multiple times. The Jills went into halftime on top with a 27-25 lead.
The Jills started the second by building their lead to eight. The Jills offense would continue to fire on all cylinders throughout the third quarter as they would take a ten point lead over the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels fought back to get within two of the Jills and eventually took the lead at 54-53. The Jills regained the lead late in the quarter, but wouldn't be able to hold on. The Jills would lose by a final score of 69-65.
Bianca Avalos led the Jills with 16 points, while
Katherine Taylor added 9.
Emily Wagner tallied 10 rebounds, while
Aja Gregg recorded 8.
The Jills will open conference play on 12/8 at Martin Luther College. The game is set to begin at 5pm.
