Jills Comeback Falls Short

St. Paul, MN -

The Northland College LumberJills fell to St. Catherine's of St. Paul, MN 72-64 despite a spirited 4th quarter comeback attempt.  

The Lumberjills were down 37-27 at halftime.  The Wildcats came out strong in the 3rd quarter and took advantage of missed shot opportunities by the Lumberjills.  The lead extended to 57-38 at the end of the 3rd. The Wildcats stretched their lead to 25 in the 3rd quarter going up 55-30.  The LumberJills stole the momentum going on a 37-14 run to end the game and got the lead down to 6 points twice with under 3 minutes to go but couldn't get closer than that.  Northland outscored St. Catherine's 26-15 in the 4th quarter, led by Katie Taylor who scored 17 of her game high 18 points after halftime.  Bianca Avalos added 15 points and Lindsay Bressette chipped in 10 for Northland whose record is now 3-1.  Sam Orth led St. Catherine's with 25 points. The LumberJills head to Milwaukee, WI to face Maranatha Baptist on Friday, followed by a match up on Saturday with Mt. Mary University.
