Jills Skate to 2-2 Tie

Ashland, WI -

The Jills hosted NCHA opponent the Aurora University Spartans today at the Bay Area Civic Center.

The Jills wasted very little time in the first period as Megan Adair would score her first collegiate goal, giving the Jills an early 1-0 lead to start the period. She was assisted by Mikayla Santjer and Bridget Allex on the play. The Jills continued to tally shots on goal throughout the half, but wouldn't be able to widen their lead. They took their 1-0 lead over the Spartans into the first intermission.

The Spartans answered early in the second period as they would tie it up at 1-1. The Jills kept up their tough play throughout the second, but couldn't get any shots to land in the back of the net. The Jills out shot the Spartans 9-3 in the second, but would go into the second intermission with the 1-1 tie still intact.

Once again the Spartans broke through first, taking a 2-1 lead over the Jills early in the third period. The Jills offense slowed in the third, as they would battle for possession of the puck. It looked like the Jills were running out of time, until Markia Smith tied it up at 2-2 with less than a minute remaining in the game, sending it into overtime. She was assisted by Allyson Reilly on the play.

The Jills controlled the overtime period, holding constant pressure on the Spartans, but it wouldn't be enough as the game would end in a 2-2 tie.

The Jills out shot the Spartans 32-22 in the match.

Gabby Suhr finished the day with 20 saves.

The Jills will play again tomorrow (11/18) at home again against the Spartans. Puck drop is set for 3pm.
