The Jills hosted NCHA opponent the Aurora University Spartans today for their second matchup of the weekend at the Bay Area Civic Center.
The Jills took control early in the first period, controlling the puck and recording shots on goal. It wouldn't take them long to get on the board as
Michaela Isetts-Williams would rip a shot into the back of the net, giving the Jills the first lead of the game. The Jills continued getting shots on goal throughout the remainder of the period, but would go into the first intermission up 1-0.
The Jills held pressure on the Spartans in the second, but the Spartans would be able to keep the Jills at bay early. At 9:47 elapsed in the period
Karadyn Kiviaho would put it past the Spartans' goaltender, putting the Jills up 2-0.
Ashley Hammes assisted in the play. The Jills would once again continue to create scoring opportunities late in the half, but wouldn't be able to add to their lead before the second intermission.
The Jills kept up their strong offensive showing in the third, as
Megan Adair joined in on the scoring to put the Jills up 3-0.
Karadyn Kiviaho was credited with the assist. Just over two minutes later
Michaela Isetts-Williams would score an empty net goal for her second goal of the game, widening the Jills lead to 4-0. The Jills wouldn't be done as
Megan Adair would also score an empty net goal for her second goal of the game, putting the Jills up 5-0. That would be all the Jills needed as they would win by a final score of 5-0.
Goaltender
Gabby Suhr recorded a shutout on the day saving all 23 shots on goal.
The Jills out shot the Spartans 37-23 in the game.
The Jills will be back in action 11/30 at home against Concordia University Wisconsin. Puck drop is set for 8pm.
