The Jills hosted a home triangular today with non-conference opponent the Finlandia University Lions and UMAC opponent the North Central University Rams.
Game 1 saw the Jills square off against the Lions.
In set 1, the Jills jumped out to an early lead, but the Lions would rally back. The Lions would eventually pull away to take the set 25-20.
The Lions struck first in set 2, jumping out to a 6-1 lead. The Jills would start to make a comeback, but the Lions would put together a 6 point rally. They would take set 2Â 25-18.
In the final set of the match, the Jills would once again get on the board first, but the Lions would be able to get back on top. The Jills would come roaring back, but it would be too late as the Lions would hold on to win 25-23.
Emma Rusch and
Vivienne Kallio led the Jills with 8 kills each, while
Caitlyn Severson recorded 18 assists.
Adrianna Galtieri led with 14 digs, while Severson added 11.
Game 2
The Jills fell behind early in set 1, but would quickly get back on top. The teams traded points with one another throughout the set, but the Jills would eventually pull away to take the set 25-17.
In set 2, the Jills jumped out to a big lead. However, a 7 point Ram's rally would get them back in the game. It would be close for the remainder of the set, but the Rams would eventually come out on top 25-23.
Both teams would come out evenly matched in set 3. However, the Jills would be able to pull away and wouldn't look back. They would take the set by a final score of 25-16.
In the last set of the night, the teams traded leads early. However, a 9 point rally by the Jills would allow them to put some distance between themselves and the Rams. That would be all they needed as they would take the set 25-17 and win the match 3-1.
Nora Hagen recorded a team high 8 kills, while
Caitlyn Severson recorded 23 assists.
Adrianna Galtieri led the Jills with 25 digs.
The Jills will be back on the court 10/20 at Martin Luther College. The match is scheduled to begin at 3pm.
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
