St. Paul, MN -

Junior guard Brandon Galland was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week this week. Galland had a big week for the LumberJacks as he averaged 25.5 ppg in two games last week, recording a career high 20 points in the Jacks win over UW-Superior. Galland would then top his career high with a 31-point performance against Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday. For the week, he shot 50% from the field and 56.3% from the 3-point line. Galland was a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line, averaged 4.0 rebounds per game, recorded 7 assists, and finished the week with 3 steals.

Head men's basketball coach Scott Sorenson commented on Galland's performance, "Brandon has put an incredible amount of work into becoming the best player he can be over the past few years. The difference from where he was as a freshman to where he is now is staggering. It's simply awesome to see that work pay dividends now.  He's a fantastic person and a joy to work with on a daily basis. Our coaching staff and his teammates couldn't be prouder of him."

The Jacks will be back on the court at home tomorrow night for a non-conference matchup against the Lakeland University Muskies. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 15 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
