ST. BONIFACIOUS, MINN.- The Northland College LumberJills were determined to get a win for many reasons; revenge for senior
Kayla Damiano, and moving up in conference to name a few. The Jills did exactly what they came to do, defeating Crown College 1-0 in regulation. Freshman keeper
Emily Romuald (Fon du Lac, Wisc.) came up with big saves for the Jills, including a one-on-one opportunity against Crown's leading scorer.
In the second half, Northland began to string passes together, and get back to team soccer. Freshman
Laura Rethmann (Nashville, Tenn.) netted her second game winning goal in a row, scoring in the 82nd minute of the game. After the goal, senior
Mikayla Jaeckel (Fort Atkinson, Wisc.), freshman
Madison Erie (Red Wing, Minn.), freshman
Shona Aird (Oak Park, Ill.), and junior
Charlotte Edminster (St. Paul, Minn.) held tough on defense, shutting down Crown's attackers.Â
With the win today, the Jills improved to 4-6 in conference, and 8-7-1 overall. The Jills will play at home on October 24th at 3:15 p.m.
