Ashland, Wisc.- The Northland College LumberJills had a physical, tough non-conference game against UW-Superior. The Jills went down 2-0 quickly, but never gave up. The momentum switch for good when junior
Alexandra Ritchie (Waldo, Wisc.) netted a 20-yard shot. From there the Northland women controlled the game. The teams were held in a midfield battle until
Heather Jensen (Anoka, Minn.) scored the game-tying goal, and her first of the season.
To hold out the tie, keeper
Emily Romuald (Fon du Lac, Wisc.) made a plethora of saves. In the two overtimes, the Jills were unable to convert a third goal, but Romuald had another two crunch time saves to keep the game tied through the final buzzer. The final score was 2-2. The Jills play next at Bethany Lutheran College at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
