Jacks Sweep #10 Ranked St. Scholastica

Duluth, MN -

The Jacks traveled to Duluth, MN tonight for their second game of a weekend doubleheader against #10 ranked The College of St. Scholastica.

The Jacks didn't waste much time in the first period as Kalib (Gus) Ford would put it between the pipes at 4:59 elapsed in the period, giving the Jacks an early 1-0 lead. Jared Hester and Zackary Fisher assisted in the play. A Northland penalty would give the Saints a chance to tie it up, but the Jacks would stay strong defensively to preserve their 1-0 lead. They would go into the second with their lead intact.

The teams battled for possession of the puck early in the second, both tallying shots on goal. However, the Saints would breakthrough first with just under five minutes remaining in the period. Just over a minute later the Saints would score again, taking a 2-1 lead over the Jacks. The Jacks would go into the third down by one.

The Jacks tied it up early in the third as Daniel Chartrand found the back of the net. Ty Kraus and Shane Roulette were credited with assists on the play. Less than two minutes later Joshua Racek would rip a shot past the Saints' goalkeeper to once again put the Jacks on top. Bailey Shaver and Max Glashauser assisted in the play. With under a minute remaining in regulation Lucas DeBenedet would score an empty net goal off of a pass from Kyle Pouncy to seal it for the Jacks. They would win by a final score of 4-2.

David Krejcik finished the night with 48 saves.

The Jacks will be back on the ice 1/8 at home against the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
