Kale Adams

2023: Kale Adams begins his second season as the head cross country coach at Northland College, overseeing both the men’s and women’s programs.

Adams is always determined to find the next appropriate step in each athlete’s development while encouraging the enjoyment of the process of improvement. As a result, members of the Northland College cross country team are often reminded to focus on the day-to-day objectives that will help them with their growth. Due to athletes resonating with these ideas, Northland College cross country grew from 2 members to 18 members within the first quarter of Adams’ employment.

Adams came to Northland College from Adams State University where he competed for the men’s cross country and indoor & outdoor track teams. Adams was on two division II national cross country title-winning teams in 2016 and 2017. Adams earned 10 all-American awards with his best individual performances being 3rd and 2nd place finishes at the division II national cross country championships in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

Before attending Adams State University, Adams grew up in the island state of Tasmania in Australia. He moved to the U.S. to pursue running further and deferred his enrollment in the biomedical science program of Monash University.

Adams holds a bachelor’s degree in biology as well as a bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies between physics and philosophy, and a master’s degree in exercise physiology from Adams State University.
