Weekly nordic awards
Skiers of Superior Award:
This award began with the passing on of the Skiers of Superior vest handed down by Alum Sarah Domek. It is awarded weekly to the Nordic team member deemed by the coaches worthy of wearing the vest for that week. The criteria for this award is totally subjective.
Award winners:
Week of January 12th: Christopher Goscinak for his "pole vault" fall on our new nordic trails located on campus.
Week of January 19th: Erin Blow for consistent leadership on the Women's Nordic team.
Week of January 26th: Kevin Robertson for breaking both his bindings in a spectacular fall during practice this week.
Week of February 1st: Bonnie Johnson for bravery and courage and competing in her first CCSA race.
Week of February 8th: Noel Cockney for helping the coach clean up the wax mess that the others left behind.
Weeks of February 16th and 23rd: Anna Rix for significant improvement in her CFIS points with the Classic technique at the Camp Ripley race.
Sparky of Intensity Award:
This award is in honor of our assistant coach and Northland Alum, Blaise Sopiwnik. One of Blaise's nicknames is "Sparky." Sparky has a motor that does not quit, so this ward is for the skier who shows the most intensity during the week.
Award winners:
Week of January 26th: Noel Cockney for his forocious intensity during his first ever CCSA races the prior weekend.
Week of February 1st: Erin Blow for her intensity in her 10K freestyle race on Sunday at the Telemark SuperTour
Week of February 8th: Kevin Robertson for his hill repeat workout..."I'm doing one more and you can't stop me!"
Week of February 16th and 23rd: Christopher Goscinak for skiing so intensely that he forgot to blink and burned his retinas at the Camp Ripley meet!
