Eagles come out on top over Jacks in nonconference action

Northland falls in first meeting with Northwestern

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Lacrosse team was defeated in a nonconference game against the University of Northwestern 7-15 Wednesday evening in Ashland, Wis.
 
Eagles took an early lead scoring two in the first quarter while holding Northland off the board.
 
In the second quarter, Northland found its footing. Goals from Luke Ballard and Logan Gallagher tied the game at two. The Eagles pulled ahead shortly after and entered the half up 7-2.
 
The five-goal deficit was too much for Northland to overcome and fell in the contest 7-15.
 
The leading scorer for the Jacks was Gallagher with four goals. Brodie Trollop added two goals and Ballard rounded out the scoring with one. For assists Gallagher had a team-high two with Trollop and George Haigley behind with one.
 
Tony Donaldson made the start in the net. He made 11 saves on 26 shots on target. Senior Max Shafer had a game-high six caused turnovers and led the team with five groundballs.
 
The Jacks will be in action next on Sunday as they travel to the Milwaukee School of Engineering for a 3 p.m., game.
