NEW ULM, Minn. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team ended the 2023-24 against Martin Luther College, falling 77-40 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon in New Ulm, Minn.
 
After the Knights went 1-of-2 from the line Katelyn Altaha scored a layup with Madison Mendoza assisting on the basket. Northland was held quiet for the rest of the quart as MLC pulled away 22-2 after the first 10 minutes.
 
The Jills bounced back with 13 points in the following quarter with Mendoza pacing the team with four points. Kodie Rempp connected on the first deep ball of the game for NC then Madi Owens followed it up with another made shot from behind the arc.
 
Owens started the second scoring with a made jumper in the paint and Altaha assisted on the bucket. Sandoval hit her first triple of the game and with the final shot of the quarter, Rempp converted on her second three-pointer of the game.
 
Just like the third quarter NC started the scoring, this time from Altaha with a two-point jumper. The final three baskets for the Northland came from behind the arc, one from Rempp and two from Sandoval.
 
Sandoval and Altaha led the team with 11 points. Rempp finished behind the pair with nine and Owens chipped in five. Mendoza rounded out the scoring with four points. The LumberJills had 10 assists in the contest with Altaha leading the team with three. Sandoval, Mendoza, and Ellie Kracht all ended the game with two assists.
 
Defensively, Rempp and Mendoza recorded a team-high seven rebounds. Owens finished in the top three for Northland with four rebounds. The Jills recorded five steals, all coming from a different student-athlete.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
